The neighbor, identified as 52-year-old Kim Fairbanks, lost her life in the attack, along with a dog that was present in the home. The two girls, aged 12 and 10, were also shot. The 10-year-old was immediately airlifted to Boston Children’s Hospital and remains in critical condition, while the 12-year-old is in stable condition at Baystate Medical Center. The younger brother of the two girls, who is 5 years old, miraculously escaped physical harm. The three children are Fairbanks’ grandchildren, as confirmed by the district attorney.
