Six victims from Kwazakele have been identified after a fatal head-on collision on the N2 Storms River. The collision occurred between a Mini Cooper and a Toyota Rav4, with the Mini Cooper overturning and catching fire. The occupants of the Mini Cooper died on impact, while the tourists from Dubai in the Rav4 sustained minor injuries. The victims were all from Kwazakele and included the driver, three women, and two young boys. The police are investigating the incident as a case of culpable homicide. The six individuals from Kwazakele who tragically lost their lives in a head-on collision on August 13 on the N2 Storms River have now been identified.
According to Colonel Priscilla Naidu, spokesperson for the police, the incident occurred on Sunday, August 13 at approximately 17:40. Two vehicles were traveling in opposite directions on the N2 near Storms River when they collided head-on.
Colonel Naidu further explained that the Mini Cooper was heading towards the Western Cape, while the Toyota Rav4 was traveling towards the Eastern Cape.
“Upon impact, the Mini Cooper overturned and caught fire. Unfortunately, all occupants in the vehicle lost their lives instantly. However, the man and woman in the Rav4, who are tourists from Dubai, sustained minor injuries,” Naidu stated.
She also mentioned that the victims, who were all residents of Kwazakele, included the male driver, three females, and two young boys.
The deceased have been identified as Sandile Patrick Sister (38), Noyakhe Regina Heleni (71), Thembela Heleni (51), Zikhona Heleni (27), Kungane Heleni (3), and Azingce Heleni (1).
Naidu confirmed that the police are currently investigating the incident as a case of culpable homicide.
