A fatal multi-vehicle collision occurred in Dallas on Saturday, resulting in one person’s death and another individual being injured, as reported by officials. The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a major accident on eastbound Interstate 30 at 2nd Avenue around 2:30 a.m. The initial crash involved a red tow truck colliding with a 2006 Chrysler Town and Country van, causing the van to spin and face oncoming traffic. Unfortunately, the red tow truck fled the scene after the collision. A Good Samaritan stopped to assist the van’s driver, and while standing near the wrecked vehicle, a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe crashed into both the van and the Good Samaritan. The deceased victim has been identified as Donald Collins, a 25-year-old individual. Collins was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The van’s passenger also sustained injuries but is expected to recover. Irma Nelly Martinez-Leal, the driver of the Tahoe, was arrested by Dallas County Sheriff’s Deputies. Martinez-Leal, 33 years old, has been charged with one count of intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault with a vehicle. The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office Vehicle Crimes Unit is currently attempting to locate the red tow truck and its driver. If anyone has dash camera footage or information about the accident, they are urged to contact VCU@dallascounty.org or reach out to Detective M. Hernandez at 214-589-2343.
