Shabab Al Ahli of the United Arab Emirates emerged victorious in a playoff against Al-Wehdat, securing a convincing 3-0 win and earning themselves a spot in the Asian Champions League group phase. This victory sets up a crucial match against Al-Nassr, a prominent team from the Saudi Pro League, next week. The highly anticipated clash will take place in Riyadh, where Cristiano Ronaldo and his Al-Nassr teammates will host Shabab Al Ahli.

The Dubai-based club showcased their strength in the playoff match, with Azizjon Ganiev, Renan, and Munas Dabbur contributing crucial second-half goals. Their impressive performance propelled them to a well-deserved victory over their Jordanian opponents.

Another team that secured their place in the next round is Sharjah, who achieved a 2-0 win over Bashundhara Kings from India. Luanzinho was the star of the match, scoring twice and leading his team to victory. Sharjah will now face off against Tractor club from Iran in what promises to be an exciting encounter.

In a hard-fought match, Uzbekistan’s AGMK managed to hold on for a 1-0 win over Al-Seeb from Oman, despite being reduced to ten men following Martin Boakye’s 73rd-minute red card. Khurshid Giyosov scored the decisive goal early in the second half, securing AGMK’s place in the next round. They will now face Qatari side Al-Arabi in their upcoming fixture.

Moving to the eastern side of the draw, Vietnam’s Haiphong displayed remarkable resilience in their match against Hong Kong Rangers. After equalizing in the 88th minute, they pushed the game into extra time and ultimately emerged victorious with a resounding 4-1 win. Yumemi Kanda gave the Hong Kong Premier League side the lead, but Nguyen Tuan Anh equalized just before the final whistle. Haiphong seized control in the second period of extra time, with Yuri Mamute scoring twice and Martin Lo also finding the back of the net.

Haiphong’s next challenge will be against South Korean team Incheon United, while defending champions Urawa Red Diamonds await their opponents, to be determined as Lee Man hosts Bali United from Indonesia in Hong Kong.

The draw for the group phase of the Asian Champions League will take place in Kuala Lumpur on August 24, with the matches set to kick off on September 18.
