A Wilson man has been arrested for a fatal hit-and-run incident in Wilson, North Carolina. The incident occurred on August 5, when the victim, Kenneth Ray Canady, was assaulted and left lying on the road before being hit by an unrelated vehicle. Andrew Wayne Ward and Demetrius Antoine Wright have been charged with murder, while Beronica Faye Barnes has been charged with felony aid and abet murder. A Wilson man was taken into custody by the Wilson Police Department last Tuesday in connection with a deadly hit and run incident that occurred on August 5. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on Ward Boulevard, where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. The victim, Kenneth Ray Canady, 59, was found lying in the road and was later pronounced dead at ECU Health Medical. During the investigation, it was discovered that Canady had been involved in an altercation prior to being hit by the vehicle. Andrew Wayne Ward, 46, and Demetrius Antoine Wright, 35, of Wilson were identified as the individuals responsible for the assault on Canady, leaving him injured on Black Creek Road. Tragically, an unrelated vehicle traveling on Black Creek Road subsequently struck Canady, resulting in his death. Ward and Wright were both charged with one count of murder, while Beronica Faye Barnes, 41, was charged with felony aid and abet murder. The suspects were apprehended last Tuesday, with Ward and Wright being held without bond and Barnes receiving a $200,000 secured bond. The driver of the vehicle involved in the hit and run, Maria Vazquez-Hernandez, 44, has been identified and will face charges at a later date as the investigation continues..
