A man has died in an ATV crash in Rib Lake, Wisconsin. The incident occurred when the driver lost control while attempting to make a right turn, causing the ATV to overturn. Speed is believed to have played a role in the accident. The victim, identified as 48-year-old James Wacholtz Jr., suffered severe injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. According to the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office, the caller, who was part of a group driving UTVs, discovered the injured individual lying unresponsive on the road. Emergency services, including deputies, firefighters, and EMS, swiftly responded to the scene. The victim was later identified as James Wacholtz Jr., a 48-year-old resident of Rib Lake, Wisconsin.

Investigation by the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office revealed that Wacholtz lost control of the ATV he was operating while attempting to negotiate a right turn on the road, causing the vehicle to overturn. As a result, Wacholtz was ejected and sustained severe injuries. He was subsequently airlifted to Aspirus in Wausau, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities have determined that excessive speed played a significant role in the accident. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has initiated an investigation into the incident..
