The two individuals who were involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident between Belgrade and Manhattan earlier this month have been apprehended on Sunday, August 13. Gerald Johnson Jr and Hollie Kittle are facing charges of negligent homicide, with Kittle also being charged with tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. The incident occurred on August 6 at approximately 10:15 p.m. when a pickup truck turned onto Frontage Road from Thorpe Road, causing a collision with Hunter Berry, who was riding a motorcycle. Berry was taken to Bozeman Deaconess Regional Medical Center where he tragically passed away. In response, a GoFundMe page has been set up to assist the family with the funeral costs. The public was asked to help locate the pickup truck on August 7, and footage from the ACME storage facility in Belgrade provided information about the vehicle involved. The driver of the pickup truck was identified as Hollie Kittle, who was described as a problematic tenant by an ACME storage representative. According to the charging documents, Gerald Johnson Jr was arrested based on a warrant and stated during an interview that Kittle had been driving the vehicle until they switched positions at the I-90 overpass on Thorpe Road. A photograph of Gerald Johnson Jr and Hollie Kittle in court on August 14, 2023, was included in the report. When Kittle was apprehended, she admitted to knowing about the crash and being aware of the ongoing law enforcement investigation. She also confessed to repairing the taillight lens, which was an important piece of evidence. Both Johnson and Kittle appeared in court on August 14 and their next court appearance is scheduled for September 1..
