Horry County Police Department is grieving the loss of one of their K9 officers. K9 Bram, a 7-year-old explosives detection dog, passed away after experiencing a serious medical emergency. Bram had served the community since 2017 and was the first police K9 to be assigned to Myrtle Beach International Airport. The handler, Cpl. The Horry County Police Department has announced the unfortunate passing of one of their K9 officers, K9 Bram. Bram, a 7-year-old explosives detection dog from the Czech Republic, had been serving with the HCPD and the Grand Strand community since 2017. He was the first police K9 to be assigned to Myrtle Beach International Airport. Tragically, Bram experienced a severe medical emergency on Saturday around midnight. Despite the efforts of Dr. Jade Guilbeau, the veterinarian at the Horry County Animal Care Center, who performed emergency surgery, Bram could not be saved. Cpl. Burke, Bram’s handler, expressed his deep grief, stating that he had lost not only a partner but also a loyal and loving friend. The Horry County Police Department shared the news on Facebook, paying tribute to Bram and acknowledging the significant role he played in serving and protecting the community.
