A Muncie juvenile has been arrested for homicide in New Castle, Indiana. The arrest was made after a report of a possible hit-and-run accident involving a pedestrian, which was later determined to be a gunshot wound. The victim has been identified as 47-year-old Ernest D. A Muncie minor has been taken into custody for a murder charge, as stated in a probable cause affidavit. The New Castle Police Department received a call on May 2nd at approximately 8:36 p.m. regarding a potential hit-and-run incident involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival, officers discovered that residents in the vicinity had also reported hearing what seemed to be gunshots. Emergency Medical Services, while providing aid to the victim, identified injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. The victim has been identified as Ernest D. Thornberry, a 47-year-old resident of New Castle. Following interviews with four potential suspects, a 13-year-old minor was apprehended and detained.
