The authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the tragic deaths of three individuals and a dog who were discovered lifeless in a hazardous gas-filled pit located in a privately owned cornfield in the northern part of Elgin, Texas. The deceased individuals have been identified as Delvys Garcia, Denise Martinez, and Noel Vigil-Benitez, all residents of Florida. They were visiting a friend in Red Rock, Texas, for a hunting expedition.

The incident unfolded when the group set out on a hog hunting excursion late on Tuesday evening. Unexpectedly, one of their dogs leaped out of the vehicle and accidentally fell into an open reservoir situated in the middle of the field. In an attempt to rescue the distressed animal, one of the Floridians ventured into the reservoir but encountered significant difficulties. The other two individuals made valiant efforts to save their companion but unfortunately met with failure.

Upon receiving a distress call, law enforcement authorities promptly arrived at the scene at approximately 1:02 am. Tragically, they discovered the bodies of the three individuals and the dog submerged in the water at the base of the reservoir. Further investigation revealed that the tank contained hydrogen sulphide gas, a highly toxic substance that proves instantly fatal to humans upon inhalation. This gas is naturally produced through the decomposition of organic matter in oxygen-deprived environments and is commonly found in swamps, sewers, and wells.

The recovery efforts were impeded by the noxious fumes, stagnant water, and the unstable condition of the reservoir. Ultimately, a small unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was deployed to assess the structural integrity of the reservoir walls. Subsequently, a law enforcement officer equipped with protective gear cautiously entered the tank and successfully retrieved the lifeless bodies of the victims.

At present, authorities are actively seeking the legal representative of the deceased owner of the property in order to corroborate the details of the hunting excursion. Meanwhile, the bereaved families and friends have initiated crowdfunding campaigns on GoFundMe to secure financial assistance for the funeral expenses.
