The Horry County Coroner’s Office has identified the driver who was killed in a crash near Conway. The crash occurred on Highway 701 and involved a Chevrolet and a Dodge pickup truck. The driver of the Chevrolet, 74-year-old Lanny Cartrette, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Dodge, a 15-year-old, was taken to the hospital. The crash resulted in entrapment and one of the trucks overturning. The Horry County Police Department and Horry County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the incident. The driver who tragically lost their life in a recent accident near Conway, South Carolina has been identified by the Horry County Coroner’s Office. Lanny Cartrette, a 74-year-old individual, was the unfortunate victim of a collision that occurred on Highway 701 on Thursday morning. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the incident involved a 1999 Chevrolet pickup truck traveling southbound and a 1988 Dodge pickup truck heading in the opposite direction. The Chevrolet truck veered into the opposing lane, resulting in a head-on collision with the Dodge truck. It was later determined that Cartrette was operating the Chevrolet, while the Dodge was being driven by a 15-year-old individual who sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital. Thankfully, they were the sole occupant of the Dodge. In addition to the tragic loss of life, the incident also involved entrapment and the overturning of one of the trucks, as reported earlier by the Horry County Fire Rescue.
