A 40-year old man from Davenport died in a motorcycle accident on Lake Marion Creek Road. The victim lost control of his motorcycle and collided with a car driven by a 34-year old woman named Sasha Ortega. The man was wearing a helmet, but unfortunately did not survive the crash. A fatal accident occurred on the evening of August 9, 2023, when a 40-year-old man from Davenport lost control of his motorcycle and collided with an oncoming vehicle. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office received a distress call at approximately 7:35 pm, reporting the crash on Lake Marion Creek Road, situated between Haines City and Poinciana, north of Canal Road. Despite being swiftly transported to a local hospital by the Polk County Fire Rescue, the victim tragically succumbed to his injuries at 9:14 pm. The other driver involved, identified as 34-year-old Sasha Ortega from Poinciana, emerged from the incident unharmed. Following the incident, detectives from the Traffic Homicide Investigations unit of the PCSO promptly arrived at the scene to gather witness statements and examine the available evidence. Initial investigations have revealed that Ms. Ortega was driving a white 2021 Nissan Altima northbound on Lake Marion Creek Road, while the victim was riding a white 2022 Harley Davidson motorcycle in the opposite direction. Eyewitnesses reported that the victim was traveling at a high speed as he approached a series of sharp bends in the road. Consequently, the motorcycle skidded into the northbound lane, causing the victim to be thrown under the Nissan vehicle. Notably, the victim was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Due to the severity of the incident, a section of Lake Marion Creek Road remained closed for approximately three hours to facilitate the investigation..
