According to state troopers, the driver of the Silverado crossed the centerline, causing the collision with the Ford. The impact ignited the Silverado, leaving the driver, identified as 57-year-old Jeffrey Turman Walker, trapped and unable to escape. Regrettably, Walker succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The driver of the Ford, a 49-year-old man from Mooresville, sustained minor injuries and did not require hospitalization. However, a passenger was rushed to Iredell Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. The initial investigation conducted by Highway Patrol officials did not indicate that impairment or excessive speed played a role in the collision. Consequently, the road was closed for approximately two hours during the on-scene investigation..
