The chase was initiated at approximately 7:20 p.m. when deputies observed a vehicle exceeding the speed limit and attempted to initiate a routine traffic stop. However, the vehicle failed to comply immediately and eventually came to a stop at a residence situated on the 30900 block of Allene Drive.
During the process of apprehending the individuals in the vehicle, the passenger revealed to the deputies that their father had been fatally shot within the premises, which explained their reckless driving behavior. Upon entering the residence, the deputies discovered a man with a gunshot wound. The victim, identified as 67-year-old Donald Hayslip from Magnolia, was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. In order to aid the ongoing investigation into the shooting, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Homicide and Violent Crimes Detectives, alongside Crime Scene Investigators, were summoned to assist the efforts of Precinct 5 Constables.
