The Amarillo Police Department is investigating a fatal collision involving an SUV and a motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle, identified as Sean Philpot, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the SUV sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital. The APD Traffic Follow-up Unit is conducting further investigations. Amarillo Globe-News reported

The Amarillo Police Department is currently conducting an investigation into a tragic collision that occurred on Thursday night in Amarillo, resulting in one individual being hospitalized and another losing their life.

At approximately 9:18 p.m. on Thursday, authorities in Amarillo received a report of a traffic accident involving an SUV and a motorcycle in the 4100 block of South Washington. Eyewitnesses at the scene informed the police that the motorcycle was heading north on Washington when an SUV, exiting from a private parking lot, made a turn onto Washington and proceeded south. Tragically, the motorcycle and the SUV collided head-on.

The driver of the SUV, who remains unidentified, sustained severe injuries and was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Regrettably, the motorcyclist, identified as 18-year-old Sean Philpot, succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident. His next of kin has already been notified of this devastating loss.

The Amarillo Police Department’s Traffic Follow-up Unit has assumed responsibility for the ongoing investigation into this incident. However, no further details regarding the circumstances of the collision are currently available.
