An 87-year-old man died in a house fire in Ottawa, Kansas, which is currently being investigated by the Kansas State Fire Marshall’s Office. The fire occurred near K-68 Highway and the cause is still unknown. The victim, Donald Meyer, was pronounced dead at the scene. Brian Dulle reported

An investigation is currently underway by the Kansas State Fire Marshall’s Office into a house fire in Ottawa that resulted in the death of an 87-year-old man. The fire was reported on Thursday afternoon near K-68 Highway. A Franklin County Sheriff’s deputy and neighbors made attempts to reach the residence and were eventually able to rescue the unresponsive victim from the burning home. Unfortunately, the victim, identified as Donald Meyer, was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the fire is currently unknown and the investigation is ongoing..
