According to an officer from the Wakad police, the complainant and her husband resided in a rented accommodation at Nakhate Vasti. “The complainant stated that she locked the balcony door and left the window open before going to sleep on Monday night. Around 2 am, she woke up sensing someone’s presence in the house. Assuming her husband had gone to the kitchen for water, she went back to sleep,” he explained.

In her complaint, the woman mentioned that she soon realized someone was attempting to take off her chain. “She was startled to see the accused and tried to raise an alarm. However, the man threatened to kill her if she alerted anyone and snatched her chain worth Rs12,000 before escaping through the balcony,” the officer stated. The woman then raised an alarm.

The police reported that the victim’s husband woke up and chased after the accused, who jumped from the balcony to avoid capture. “The victim’s relatives and other residents of the building discovered that Pawar had sustained head injuries and was in possession of the woman’s chain. One of them informed the police,” the officer added.

“The accused managed to unlock the balcony door through the open window and snatch the gold chain,” the officer concluded..
