The incident occurred at the US Hwy 421 exit ramp at Brushy Mountain Road at around 12:10 p.m. A 911 call was made to report the shooting, and upon arrival, officers found a victim with gunshot wounds to their right arm and torso. The injured person was immediately transported to the hospital and is currently in critical condition. The suspected shooter, identified as Lucas Bankford from Booneville, was apprehended at a convenience store on Oakwoods Road and taken into custody for questioning. Bankford has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to cause serious injury and has been given a $250,000 bond.
