A mother residing in Southern Nevada was taken into custody on Monday following an incident of road rage, during which she allegedly stabbed another parent. Las Vegas police were summoned to an elementary school on the first day of the new academic year in response to a reported stabbing. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man with a stab wound to his upper left abdomen, and he was promptly transported to the hospital for surgery. The injured man informed the authorities that he had engaged in a road rage altercation with a woman, later identified as 30-year-old Akira Mays, who was driving a red vehicle. The argument escalated outside their cars, resulting in the man being stabbed. Mays, subsequently contacted by the school, admitted to the officer on the phone that she had indeed stabbed the man. Accompanied by her two children, she returned to the school and was apprehended by the police. In an interview, Mays explained that as she was leaving the parking lot, she attempted to merge into a single travel lane when the man raced ahead of her in his vehicle. A heated argument ensued, leading to Mays’ son punching the man, who retaliated by pushing the boy. It was then that Mays resorted to using a knife, stabbing the man. Mays, aged 30, has been released on the condition that she refrains from any further illegal activities, possesses no weapons, and avoids contacting the alleged victim.
