A 38-year-old woman from Manitowoc is currently incarcerated after being apprehended on suspicion of providing drugs to a 40-year-old man who tragically died from a drug overdose in June. As stated in a report by the Manitowoc police, authorities were summoned to a residence in Manitowoc on June 19, where they discovered the lifeless body of the 40-year-old man, potentially due to an overdose. The report further indicated that drug paraphernalia, specifically a hypodermic needle, was found near the deceased individual. According to the report, the woman, aged 38, was identified as the individual responsible for supplying the illicit drugs. During questioning, she admitted to purchasing methamphetamine worth $80 from a local supplier prior to the man’s demise and acknowledged giving him a portion of the drug. Additionally, the woman confessed to consistently procuring and distributing illegal substances, such as methamphetamine, heroin, and fentanyl, to the deceased man, revealing that she engaged in this behavior approximately 80% of the time while residing with him.
According to the report, an autopsy performed on August 7 confirmed the presence of drugs as a contributing factor in the man’s death. Subsequently, on August 8, law enforcement officials arrested the woman on charges of first-degree reckless homicide and the delivery of methamphetamine (less than 3 grams). It is worth noting that the Herald Times Reporter refrains from disclosing the names of suspects until they are formally charged in court. However, online court records indicate that the woman faced charges in January for felony possession of methamphetamine as a repeat offender, felony possession of narcotic drugs (second and subsequent offense), and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia as a repeat offender.
