Authorities in Edgecombe County are searching for three suspects involved in a fatal shooting during a home robbery. The victim, 20-year-old John Davis, was killed when three armed men kicked in the door and demanded money. The suspects escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash and the Sheriff’s Office is investigating whether the attack was targeted or random. Multiple witnesses heard gunshots but were afraid to speak on camera. The owner of the home declined to comment, and the victim’s family has not responded to requests for a statement. Authorities are currently on the lookout for three individuals who are believed to have shot and killed a man during a home robbery in Edgecombe County. The victim has been identified as 20-year-old John Davis. According to the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office, the tragic incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Monday at a residence situated on Camland Circle, east of Sharpsburg. Reports indicate that three armed men forcefully entered the home by kicking the door and demanded money. Tragically, Davis lost his life as a result of the shooting, while the perpetrators managed to escape with an undisclosed sum of cash. The county’s sheriff’s office is currently conducting an investigation to ascertain whether this crime was a random act or a deliberate attack targeting Davis. Sheriff Clee Atkinson commented, “We are actively working to identify the three suspects involved in this case. At this stage, we are unable to determine if there was any prior connection between the suspects and the victim.” He added, “Several other individuals were present inside the residence during the incident, however, due to the ongoing investigation, we are unable to disclose their identities.” WRAL News visited the site of the robbery, located within the County Line trailer park near Sharpsburg, where neighbors reported hearing gunshots but chose not to go on camera due to concerns over potential retaliation. The homeowner, who was the victim of the robbery, arrived at the scene to retrieve his belongings but declined to comment on the incident. WRAL News has attempted to reach out to various family members of John Davis for a statement, but has not yet received any response.
