The annual Made in America Music Festival in Philadelphia has been canceled this year, according to organizers. The festival, created by Jay-Z in 2012, was scheduled to take place on September 2nd and 3rd and feature headliners Lizzo and SZA. No specific reason was given for the cancellation, but organizers stated that ticket holders will be refunded. The organizers of the annual Made in America Music Festival, which usually takes place over the Labor Day weekend in Philadelphia, have announced the cancellation of this year’s event.

The organizers posted on the event website that the 2023 Made in America festival will not proceed due to severe circumstances beyond their control. They emphasized that this decision was not taken lightly and involved careful deliberation.

This year’s festival, which was scheduled for September 2nd and 3rd, was supposed to feature headliners Lizzo and SZA, along with several other musical acts.

The Made in America festival, founded by Jay-Z in 2012, takes place on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, as stated on the Visit Philadelphia website. Previous editions of the festival have included amusement rides, food trucks, and various other activities in addition to the music performances.

Joy Huertas, spokesperson for Philadelphia, expressed the city’s disappointment, stating that the City of Philadelphia had been closely collaborating with the festival organizers during the planning process. Huertas added that the city and its hospitality and tourism partners are looking forward to bringing back the Made in America festival next year, making it even bigger than before.

Philadelphia’s Mayor Jim Kenney expressed his disappointment, stating, “I am saddened to learn that the 2023 Made in America festival has been canceled. Since 2012, Made in America has become a cherished tradition in Philadelphia, celebrating music and supporting important social causes on Labor Day Weekend.”

Previous lineups for the Made in America festival have featured renowned artists such as Nicki Minaj, Travis Scott, Justin Bieber, and Cardi B.

The organizers did not provide any further explanation for the cancellation of the 2023 edition of the festival but assured ticket holders that they will receive refunds for their purchases.
