The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to a shooting incident at 709 5th Street in McCune, Kansas, following a 911 call received just before 1 a.m. on Monday, August 7th. The caller informed the authorities that her brother had been shot by their grandfather.
Upon reaching the location, deputies discovered an unresponsive male victim outside the residence, having suffered a gunshot wound. Despite attempts to save his life, the victim, identified as Ian Fox, a 28-year-old from Lexington, Kentucky, tragically succumbed to his injuries.
Law enforcement detained the suspected shooter, John Fox, a 70-year-old resident of McCune, at the scene. He was subsequently arrested and taken to the Crawford County Jail, facing charges of second-degree murder with intent.
The Crawford County Deputy Coroner arrived at the scene, and arrangements were made to transport the deceased victim to Kansas City for a post-mortem examination. Emergency medical services from Crawford County and the McCune fire department also responded to the incident.
