A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting at Myles Standish State Forest in Plymouth. The victim, Robert Aponte-Flores, was involved in an altercation with the suspect before being shot multiple times. The suspect, John Geovanni Pires Monteiro Macedo, was apprehended in New Bedford and is facing charges of murder. An individual has been apprehended in relation to a lethal shooting incident that occurred at Myles Standish State Forest. According to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s office, on July 12, at approximately 2:40 p.m., multiple 911 calls were made to report a shooting at Myles Standish State Forest in Plymouth. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered a male victim who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Tragically, the victim, identified as 25-year-old Robert Aponte-Flores from New Bedford, succumbed to his injuries at Beth Israel Deaconess-Plymouth Hospital. Eyewitnesses at the scene recounted that a confrontation had taken place in a picnic area of the park between Aponte-Flores and the suspect before the shooting occurred.

Consequently, the Massachusetts State Police secured an arrest warrant for 20-year-old John Geovanni Pires Monteiro Macedo, who was apprehended at an apartment in New Bedford. Monteiro Macedo is set to face charges of murder and is scheduled for arraignment tomorrow at Plymouth District Court in Plymouth.
