Police officers were called to the scene of a shooting at the intersection of Good Hope Road and 16th Street SE in Southeast Washington D.C. before 9 p.m. The incident resulted in three fatalities and at least two individuals being taken to the hospital. D.C. Acting Police Chief Pamela Smith condemned the violence and emphasized the urgent need to end gun violence in the community. The officers were already in the area when they heard the gunshots and discovered five victims upon arrival, four males and one female. Two males and one female were pronounced dead at the scene, while the conditions of the other two males remain unknown.
