A 39-year-old woman was discovered shot on South Centerville Road near South Street in Sturgis, and sadly succumbed to her injuries. The perpetrator has been identified as David Keith Algarin Jr., a 30-year-old individual. Deputies proceeded to a different address in the 31000 block of US 12 to search for the suspect. During this search, they came across another victim, a 61-year-old man, who had also been fatally shot. On Sunday morning, officers from the Sturgis Department of Public Safety spotted the suspect driving through the City of Sturgis. In collaboration with St. Joseph County Deputies, they attempted to apprehend him, but he evaded capture. The pursuit concluded with an officer-involved shooting in Branch County, resulting in the death of David Algarin Jr. The Michigan State Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident.
