Calyn Collie fondly remembers her sister, Devyn Reiley, as a committed aviator and a deeply devoted member of their family. Reiley, aged 30, tragically lost her life along with Zachary Collie-Moreno, 20, when their plane crashed into Lake Winnebago near Oshkosh, Wisconsin on July 29. The crash is currently being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration to determine the cause.

To honor Reiley’s memory, family and friends held a celebration of life at the Commemorative Air Force in San Marcos, Texas, a place that held special significance for her. Reiley had a strong connection to the hangar as it played a significant role in her life. Deena Clausen, the leader of the Commemorative Air Force Central Texas Wing, described Reiley as a vibrant and helpful individual who actively contributed to the aviation community in South Central Texas. Reiley’s involvement in the wing’s activities made her one of the first female pilots in its history, and she was a passionate advocate for women in aviation.

Reiley resided in New Braunfels with her husband Hunter and was the eldest of 13 siblings in the Collie family. In her memory, friends and family are establishing a scholarship, and a second celebration of life will take place on August 12 at First Baptist Church Harlingen. The Collie-Moreno family will also hold a private memorial on the same day. The Commemorative Air Force Central Texas Wing intends to establish the Zachary James Collie Moreno Memorial Warbird Restoration Scholarship to honor Collie-Moreno’s memory..
