An altercation on a Metro train in Hawthorne, California turned deadly on Wednesday evening when a man was fatally stabbed, as confirmed by the police. The incident occurred on the Metro Green Line near W. 120th Street and Crenshaw Boulevard, prompting the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office to respond to reports of a stabbing just before 7:30 p.m. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a man in his twenties suffering from stab wounds to his upper torso. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, the victim succumbed to his injuries.

The suspect, a man in his thirties or forties, was apprehended at the scene and subsequently taken to the hospital to receive treatment for gunshot wounds to his upper torso. Initial investigations suggest that a physical altercation took place between the victim and the suspect on the train. During the scuffle, the victim drew a handgun and shot the attacker as he attempted to stab him. The suspect then exited the train and was apprehended by deputies.

Authorities have confirmed that there are no outstanding suspects, but the investigation is ongoing.
