A 13-year-old has been arrested in connection to a fatal shooting and burning vehicle in Pueblo. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots before the vehicle ignited. The victim, Lazarus Vigil, was found with gunshot wounds and pronounced deceased later. The juvenile suspect was arrested on July 27 and booked into the Pueblo Youth Center. Pueblo city police have made an announcement on Thursday, stating that a 13-year-old minor has been apprehended in connection with a fatal shooting and subsequent vehicle fire that occurred in late June. The incident unfolded at approximately 9:30 p.m. on June 28, when officers were dispatched to the 500 block of East Mesa Avenue in response to a burning car. According to witnesses, gunshots were heard prior to the ignition of the vehicle. Upon investigation, law enforcement discovered a 19-year-old male named Lazarus Vigil inside the car, who had sustained gunshot wounds. Vigil was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries at a later time. On July 27, police secured a warrant and successfully apprehended the juvenile suspect, subsequently booking them into the Pueblo Youth Center. Given the suspect’s age, their identity will not be disclosed by authorities. It is worth noting that this particular shooting marks the thirteenth homicide investigation in Pueblo thus far this year..
