Federal law enforcement agents recently executed a search warrant and subpoenaed Vince McMahon, the executive chairman of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), as part of an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct. The WWE made this announcement earlier this week.



In addition to the search warrant, US regulators and federal agents have also demanded that the WWE hand over specific documents. It is important to note that McMahon has not been charged with any crime at this time. Both the WWE and McMahon have yet to respond to the request for comment.



McMahon, who was forced to retire as CEO in July 2022, still remains the majority shareholder of the company. Following his departure, the WWE disclosed multiple expenses that McMahon had not previously reported, amounting to a total of $19.6 million. As a result, the company had to revise its financial statements for the years 2019, 2020, and 2021.



Many of these payments are connected to the company's investigation into McMahon's alleged sexual misconduct. Last year, the WWE board formed a special committee to conduct an investigation into these allegations.



The Wall Street Journal reported in July 2022 that McMahon had paid tens of millions of dollars to four women in order to conceal allegations of sexual misconduct and infidelity. However, McMahon vehemently denies these allegations.



In January, McMahon returned to the WWE as a board member following a six-month hiatus. Upon his return, he agreed to reimburse the company for any expenses related to the investigation. As of Wednesday, McMahon has repaid the WWE a total of $17.4 million.

In April, the WWE announced its plans to merge with Endeavor Group, the parent company of rival organization UFC, forming a new publicly traded company. McMahon will retain his current title of executive chairman at the new company.
