Three individuals have been apprehended in connection with a fatal shooting at Pismo Beach Pier in February. The incident occurred on February 18, when law enforcement received multiple emergency calls reporting a shooting in the downtown Pismo Beach pier area. Upon arrival, officers discovered Gustavo Aquino, a 41-year-old resident of Fresno, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the parking lot. Aquino was subsequently transported to Marian Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Further investigation revealed that Aquino had encountered two men and a 15-year-old boy, identified as Daniel Jacob Santillana, Anthony Robert Hernandez, and an unnamed minor. These individuals were found to have ties to a criminal street gang in Hanford and engaged in a verbal altercation with Aquino. During the altercation, the 15-year-old retrieved a firearm from a parked vehicle and fired three shots at Aquino, ultimately causing his demise. The three suspects then fled the scene in the company of two teenage girls, with Hernandez serving as the driver. On July 24, the District Attorney of San Luis Obispo County filed various charges against Santillana, Hernandez, and the 15-year-old. Santillana was charged with assault with a firearm and felony commission in association with a street gang, while Hernandez was charged with being an accessory. The 15-year-old was charged with homicide and active participation in the gang. Hernandez has already been arrested and booked into Kern County Jail, while Santillana is awaiting transfer to San Luis Obispo County Jail after being detained by the Kings County Sheriff’s Office for an unrelated arrest. The 15-year-old is currently in the custody of the Kings County Juvenile Detention Center and will be transferred to San Luis Obispo County. Specific details and circumstances surrounding the incident are being withheld due to the ongoing investigation..
