A photograph depicting a body found in a barrel floating in the Malibu Lagoon has been released by the police. The deceased has been identified as Javonnta Murphy, a 32-year-old man, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s office. Murphy, who was known as an aspiring rapper, grew up in South Los Angeles as the middle child of five boys. He was also a father and had an interest in running and weightlifting. Patrick Nelson, who was in a relationship with Murphy’s mother, expressed shock at the tragic circumstances surrounding his death, describing him as a good person who was not involved in gang activity. The discovery of the barrel was made by a sanitation worker in the Malibu Lagoon near the Pacific Coast Highway bridge. However, due to its weight, they were unable to remove it from the water. The following morning, a lifeguard discovered the same barrel containing Murphy’s body. Lieutenant Hugo Raynaga stated that the body did not appear to be decomposed, suggesting that it had not been in the lagoon for an extended period. The presence of the barrel alongside swimmers and surfers caused significant concern among beachgoers. The police are currently investigating the area for any potential leads regarding the origin of the barrel, including statements from witnesses and reviewing security footage. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department..
