A man from Garland County, Arkansas was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the accidental shooting death of his 6-year-old daughter on May 29th. Jordan Thomas Chadick, 44, was charged with first-degree murder and taken into custody during a traffic stop. He claimed that the shooting was unintentional. The Garland County prosecuting attorney’s office recused themselves from the case, and a special prosecutor has been appointed. According to the probable cause affidavit, Chadick is charged with first-degree murder because the victim was under the age of 14 at the time of her death. Authorities were alerted to the incident when multiple calls were made to the police about a shooting at Chadick’s apartment. Upon arrival, officers found Chadick and his wife, Melissa, along with their daughter, with the child covered in blood and appearing lifeless. Melissa Chadick stated in interviews that she and Jordan had separated due to his substance abuse issues. On the day of the incident, they had an argument, and Melissa decided to leave with their daughter. Jordan later convinced her to allow their daughter to go with him, as he intended to take her to work the next morning. Melissa arrived at Jordan’s apartment before law enforcement and was met by him, who warned her to prepare herself. She found her daughter’s lifeless body inside the apartment. Investigators discovered that Jordan gave inconsistent accounts of the events leading to his daughter’s death and made several non-emergency phone calls immediately after the incident. The autopsy report confirmed that the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head, which did not align with Jordan’s recollection of the events..
