An autopsy is being conducted on a 68-year-old man who died after being attacked by his own dog in Tyrone Township. Animal Control deputies found the dog actively biting the man’s body and had to kill the dog in order to provide medical aid. Foul play is not suspected, and the cause of death is pending. An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted today on a 68-year-old man from Tyrone Township who passed away on August 2nd. On that day, Animal Control deputies from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office were at a residence on Faussett Road in Tyrone Township to serve the homeowner a court notice. The notice was issued by the 53rd District Court for a show-cause hearing, as the homeowner’s dog had recently been involved in a serious dog attack incident. While attempting to make contact with the homeowner, the deputies found him in a cattle pasture on the property, where the dog was actively biting his body. Unfortunately, the victim did not survive and was pronounced deceased at the scene. In order to provide medical aid, the aggressive dog was euthanized. Foul play is not suspected, and the victim’s body was transported to Sparrow Hospital in Lansing for an autopsy. The official cause and manner of death are pending, and the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau is currently investigating the incident. The Hartland Area Fire Department and Livingston County EMS also provided assistance at the scene..
