Two male suspects forced their way into an apartment in Claremont, New Hampshire and assaulted one of the occupants. One of the occupants fired two rounds from his own pistol, striking one of the suspects, Loren Richardson, in the chest. Richardson was treated for a gunshot wound and remains in critical condition. Claremont, NH – Claremont police officers responded to a shooting incident on Monday, July 31, at approximately 6:15 PM. The incident took place at a residence located at the intersection of Trinity and Walnut streets. According to reports, two male suspects forcefully entered an apartment and began assaulting one of the occupants.
The suspects have been identified as Loren Richardson, 34, and Kody Bardin, 29, both residents of Claremont. During the confrontation, it was revealed that Richardson was armed with a firearm. As the situation escalated, another occupant of the apartment approached the kitchen to investigate the commotion. Upon witnessing Richardson’s armed assault, the occupant fired two rounds from their own pistol, striking Richardson once in the chest. Both Richardson and Bardin subsequently fled the scene.
Shortly after the incident, authorities discovered that Richardson had sought medical treatment for a gunshot wound at Valley Regional Hospital. He was later transferred to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, where he is currently in critical but stable condition.
Bardin was apprehended and now faces multiple charges, including robbery, burglary, criminal threatening with a deadly weapon, and simple assault. Additionally, Emily Engerman, 20, of Claremont, was also arrested on charges of falsifying physical evidence. The exact details of her involvement in the incident have not been disclosed by the police.

The Claremont Police Department stated that they are actively reviewing surveillance footage, executing search warrants, collecting evidence, and conducting interviews. They anticipate making additional arrests in the near future. The motive behind the assault and whether it was a random or targeted attack has not yet been revealed.
