An elderly man in Hawaii was found dead after being attacked by a pack of dogs. The incident occurred when a witness saw the man being attacked by four dogs and called 911. The victim died on the way to the hospital. The dogs were reported as strays and have been taken by the Hawaii County Animal Control. The owners of the dogs could face charges and prison time. An elderly man in Hawaii was discovered deceased on Tuesday, apparently as a result of being attacked by a group of large dogs. The incident took place in Kau on Hawaii’s Big Island around 9 a.m. on Tuesday. According to the Hawaii Police Department, a witness heard a disturbance and observed a man being assaulted by four dogs in the middle of the road. The witness successfully scared off the animals and promptly contacted emergency services.

Law enforcement officers arrived at the scene and found the man unconscious. Despite being transported to a local hospital, the victim passed away during the journey. The deceased individual was later identified as Robert Northrop, a 71-year-old resident of Ocean View.
Hawaii Police Chief Ben Moszkowicz stated, “There is presently no evidence indicating that the victim provoked this tragic attack. This incident is an unnecessary calamity that could have been prevented.”
The dogs had previously been identified as strays, but their owners were absent at the time of the incident. The Hawaii County Animal Control and Protection Agency took custody of all four dogs, as well as a litter of 10 puppies.
No information regarding the breeds or conditions of the dogs has been disclosed.
