18-year-old Adrian Bond Jr. has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on July 12. The shooting took place in Indianapolis and resulted in the death of 19-year-old Elijah Martin. Bond was apprehended by IMPD detectives on August 2, 2023, and is facing charges of felony murder and robbery.

Another suspect, 18-year-old Jeremiah Shanks, was previously arrested on July 26 for his alleged involvement in the robbery and shooting. The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. near East 34th and North Meridian streets. Martin was found with gunshot wounds in the 3300 block of North Meridian Street and was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

According to court documents, Martin was able to provide some information to the officers before his death. He indicated that the shooter had a previous relationship with his sister and lived in the complex where the shooting took place.

Surveillance footage reportedly shows Shanks, another individual, and Martin entering a building at the apartment complex. Moments later, Martin is seen stumbling out and collapsing on the ground, while Shanks and the other person flee from the back of the building.

Shanks was located and arrested by IMPD SWAT and Violent Crimes Unit teams at an Indianapolis motel on July 24. He has been charged with two counts of murder, robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of a firearm. His hearing is scheduled for October 2 at 8:30 a.m.
