The single-engine plane, a Piper PA32, departed from Springbank Airport en-route to Salmon Arm, British Columbia. Contact with the aircraft was lost around 9:30 p.m., and the party was reported overdue to the RCMP. The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre and other emergency services were deployed to search for the aircraft. The pilot and all five passengers were tragically pronounced dead at the crash site on Mount McGillivray. The victims have been identified as members of the Calgary church community. The TSB will utilize all available data to reconstruct the events leading up to the crash, including interviews with air traffic controllers and technicians, and analyzing pieces of the aircraft.
