SHREVEPORT, La. – A tragic incident took place in Shreveport on Monday morning, resulting in the loss of a young life. The victim has been identified as 17-year-old A’Jaylus Harris, according to the Caddo Parish Coroner. Harris was fatally shot in the head near the intersection of Poland Street and Alabama Avenue shortly before 5 a.m.

The authorities were alerted to the incident and Harris was rushed to Ochsner LSU Health. Despite the best efforts of medical personnel, Harris was pronounced dead at 6:53 a.m.

This unfortunate incident marks the 50th homicide in Caddo Parish this year, and the 48th in Shreveport. The Shreveport Police Department has launched an investigation into the matter.
