In a tragic incident that unfolded on Monday, a Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable has been accused of shooting four people dead on board the Mumbai-Jaipur Superfast Express train. The incident occurred near the Palghar railway station, approximately 100 km from Mumbai, while the train was en route from Jaipur to Mumbai.

The constable, identified as Chetan Kumar, was apprehended by the Government Railway Police (GRP) as he attempted to escape. He has now been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including murder (302) and the Arms Act.

The details of the incident reveal that Kumar first attacked his senior, Tika Ram Meena, and another passenger in the B5 coach using an automatic weapon. He then proceeded to shoot another passenger in the pantry car, followed by yet another in the S6 coach.

The victims have been identified as Abdul Kadarbhai Mohammed Hussain Bhanpurwala, a resident of Nalasopara in Palghar, and Asgar Abbas Sheikh from Madhubani in Bihar. The identity of the third victim is yet to be determined.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear. However, initial reports suggest that the accused constable had complained of feeling unwell and requested to be relieved from duty, which led to an altercation with his colleagues. Some sources also allege that he was facing mental harassment from his colleagues.
