Tragic accident on Route 58 Claims the Life of Gary Gravley
CARROLL COUNTY, Va. – In a devastating incident on July 19, a fatal crash occurred in Carroll County, claiming the life of Gary Gravley, a 60-year-old man from Hillsville. Gravley tragically passed away after being transported to a nearby hospital.

According to the authorities at Virginia State Police, the accident took place at the intersection of Route 58 and Breezy Ridge Rd. around 2:05 p.m. The collision involved a Chevrolet Equinox traveling north on Breezy Ridge Rd. and a Ford F-150 pickup heading east on Route 58. The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as Gerald Stockner, 77, failed to yield the right of way to Gravley’s Ford, resulting in a collision that Gravley could not avoid.
Following the accident, Stockner was also transported to the hospital to receive treatment for serious injuries. Police have cited him for failing to yield the right of way.
