A tragic motorcycle crash in Wayne County, Indiana, has claimed the life of Bruce Estes, a former member of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department’s mounted patrol unit. The accident occurred on Monday afternoon at the intersection of North State Road 227 and Elliott Road in Fountain City.

According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of a motorcycle crash. When they arrived, they found the motorcycle in a cornfield and discovered Estes, 54, unresponsive and not breathing. Despite the efforts of first responders, Estes was pronounced dead at the scene.

The department expressed their sorrow in a Facebook post, stating, “We would like to share that Bruce holds a special place in the heart of our agency as he was previously a proud member of our Mounted Patrol Unit.”

Further details about the crash and the cause of Estes’ death have yet to be released. An autopsy will be performed at the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office as part of the ongoing investigation.
