According to the coroner, the tragic accident took place shortly after 5 p.m. near mile marker 23. The dump truck, traveling eastbound, unexpectedly veered across the interstate, crashing into a tree on the westbound side.

The deceased driver has been identified as Brian Scott Stankus, a 52-year-old resident of Woodruff. Sadly, Stankus succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident.
