Milwaukee — A 17-year-old boy named Tyler Ward has been charged in relation to an incident that took place on July 25 at Sherman Park, resulting in a 16-year-old boy being injured. Ward is facing multiple charges, including first-degree reckless injury, first-degree recklessly endangering safety, and possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under 18, according to a criminal complaint.

The charges stem from an altercation that occurred last month at Sherman Park, where the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office reported that a 16-year-old boy was shot and injured during a fight. Approximately 300 people were present in the park at the time, as stated in the complaint. Ward informed deputies that he witnessed a group of women fighting and four males wearing ski masks carrying guns.

When the altercation escalated, Ward claimed that the group of masked individuals started shooting at another group of children in the park. Subsequently, Ward’s friend allegedly handed him a gun, and Ward began firing shots. Although he stated that he did not believe he hit anyone, Ward admitted to firing the gun three times out of fear for his safety, as he did not recognize the individuals wearing masks.

A friend of the victim, identified as KWM in the criminal complaint, informed deputies that Ward was positioned behind the victim when the shooting occurred and speculated that the victim was unintentionally shot by Ward.
