Tragic Discovery: Dozens of dead Dogs Found in Ohio Animal Rescue

Butler County, Ohio

Butler County, Ohio, authorities made a horrifying discovery earlier this week when they found approximately 30 dead dogs and puppies stuffed into fridges and freezers at an animal rescue. The Butler County Sheriff’s Office described it as “the most horrible conditions they have ever seen,” as they removed over 90 dogs and puppies from the site.

The animals were being held at two different properties in Madison Township, with one structure being a garage where more than 25 caged canines were found in sweltering conditions, reaching an indoor temperature of 89 degrees. The sheriff’s office reported that numerous animals were confined together in cages filled with urine, fecal matter, and no access to food or water. Shockingly, one cage contained a mother and eight newborn puppies.

In addition, authorities discovered 11 adult canines in the main house, some of which were also caged together. The deceased animals were found in five refrigerators and freezers, some of which were not functioning properly.

The conditions in the house were described as unlivable, with a strong odor that burned the eyes and made breathing difficult for the Deputy Dog Wardens. CNN has attempted to contact the Butler County Sheriff’s Office for further comments on the case.

The owner of the animal rescue operated under the name “Helping Hands for Furry Paws,” according to reports. Rhonda Murphy, the owner and operator, now faces numerous charges of neglect and cruelty to companion animals, including both felony and misdemeanor charges.
