In yet another tragic accident, a train collided with a car at an unmanned level crossing in East Java Province on Saturday evening, resulting in the death of six people and leaving two others seriously injured. The spokesperson of PT Kereta Api Indonesia’s (KAI’s) VII Regional Operation (Daop) Madiun, Supriyanto, confirmed the incident.

The Dhoho 423 train-car crash occurred at approximately 11:14 p.m. local time at the level crossing located between Jombang Station and Sembung Station in Jombang District. The car, heading from north to south, failed to slow down despite warnings from local residents about the approaching train.

As a result, the train, which operates on the Blitar-Surabaya City route, collided with the car and dragged it along the tracks. However, after a ground check conducted by Jombang station officers, the train was deemed fit to continue its journey to Sembung Station from KM 85. The Jombang station authority also contacted the local police for the evacuation process.

The victims of the crash have been identified as Wahyu Kuswoyo (42), Sumiowati (60), Alinsa Mareta (16), Sutrianingsih (30), Azahrah Rohmah (14), and Adelia (19). Two wounded victims, Fikri Hidayatuloh (42) and Arimbi (13), were immediately rushed to Jombang public hospital for medical treatment.
