Scioto County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Fatal shooting at Portsmouth Party

SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio – On July 29, 2023, Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman reported that his 9-1-1 Communication Center received an emergency call in the early hours of the morning. The caller, a male resident of 285 Aaron Road, Portsmouth, Ohio, reported a shooting incident that had taken place at a party. The alleged suspect had already fled the scene.

Upon receiving the call, deputies, detectives, and emergency medical squads were dispatched to the location. Unfortunately, their attempts to save the victim were unsuccessful, and Nathaniel Chase Mcquinley, a 20-year-old resident of 8372 Green St. Wheelersburg, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) was called in to assist with the case, while detectives interviewed witnesses present at the party. BCI also processed the crime scene for potential evidence.

The Sheriff’s Office has identified Aden Michael Alexander Greene, with a last known address at 3114 Swauger Valley Road, Portsmouth, Ohio, as a person of interest in connection with the murder. Greene, described as 5’09” tall, weighing 128 pounds, with blond hair and hazel eyes, is considered armed and dangerous. Authorities urge anyone who spots Greene or has information about his whereabouts not to approach him but to immediately contact 9-1-1.

Several individuals present at the party fled on foot or in vehicles before and during the arrival of law enforcement. Detectives have a list of individuals who were in attendance and encourage them to call Detective Sergeant Jodi Conkel at 740-351-1091. Providing information voluntarily will expedite the investigation by eliminating the need to track down each individual.
