A man in Palo, Iowa, identified as William Kasner, was injured after falling asleep behind the wheel and crashing his vehicle in a ditch. Linn County Deputies and the Palo Fire Department responded to the scene on Covington Road. Kasner had to be extricated from the upside-down vehicle. Investigation revealed that he had fallen asleep, crossed into oncoming traffic, and ended up in the ditch. Kasner was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Man Injured in Palo accident After Falling Asleep Behind the Wheel

Palo, Iowa (KWWL) — A Palo resident sustained injuries after dozing off while driving, resulting in his vehicle crashing into a ditch.
Emergency services, including Linn County Deputies and the Palo Fire Department, were dispatched to the 2500 block of Covington Road in response to a vehicle that had veered off the road and overturned in a ditch.
Rescue teams had to carefully extract the driver from the overturned vehicle. The driver has been identified as 65-year-old William Kasner from Shellsburg.
Upon thorough investigation, it was revealed that Kasner had lost consciousness while driving, causing him to cross into oncoming traffic before ultimately ending up in the ditch.
Kasner was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital to receive medical attention for his non-life-threatening injuries.
