A man wanted in a homicide in San Mateo was arrested after posting a video of a stabbing on Facebook. The Nye County Sheriff’s Office traced the Facebook account to an apartment complex in San Mateo. After a three-hour search, the victim, a woman, was found dead inside an apartment. The suspect, Mark Merchikoff, fled the scene but was later arrested in San Jose. Horrific Stabbing Video on Facebook Leads to Arrest in San Mateo Homicide Case

Authorities have reported that the posting of a gruesome stabbing video on Facebook has resulted in the arrest of a man wanted in connection with a homicide in San Mateo. According to officials, deputies were able to trace the Facebook account associated with the video to an apartment complex located on the 200 block of 37th Avenue in San Mateo.

Upon discovering the connection, the Nye County Sheriff’s Office immediately contacted the San Mateo Police, who then conducted a thorough door-to-door search of the complex.
The investigation led San Mateo Police to an apartment where they discovered the lifeless body of a woman. At this time, the victim’s identity has not been released by the police.
The suspect had already fled the scene, but investigators managed to track him down in San Jose within two hours. The suspect has been identified as 39-year-old Mark Merchikoff from Pacifica. Fortunately, his arrest was made without incident.
According to the police, Merchikoff was known to the victim. While the motive behind the stabbing is still under investigation, authorities have revealed that Merchikoff heartlessly filmed the victim’s final moments and shared the video on Facebook before fleeing the area.
