A man has died after a fatal altercation with Burke County deputies in Louisville, Georgia. The incident occurred when deputies were called to assist with a combative mental subject. Initially, the victim, Freddie Walker, was convinced to be transported to a local hospital by a family member. However, Walker became combative again and attempted to strike a paramedic. Deputies tried to calm him down, but he continued to resist. A deputy used a defective taser, and another deputy tasered Walker, causing him to fall to the ground. Man Fatally Injured in Confrontation with Burke County Deputies
LOUISVILLE, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Tragic news unfolded early Friday morning as a man lost his life in a combative altercation with deputies from Burke County. Authorities have confirmed the unfortunate incident.
According to reports, at approximately 12:11 a.m., the Burke County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) requested deputy assistance at 1041 Bailey Road, Louisville, Ga. The request was in response to a mentally unstable individual engaged in combative behavior.
Upon arrival, the deputies engaged in a conversation with the victim, later identified as Freddie Walker, and initially convinced him to be transported by a family member to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
However, the situation quickly escalated when Walker became aggressive, abruptly exiting the vehicle and attempting to strike a paramedic by raising his fist. Fortunately, the paramedic managed to evade the attack, and the deputies successfully calmed Walker down once again.

While attempting to safely escort Walker to their vehicle, the deputies encountered resistance for the second time as he attempted to engage in a physical altercation.
One of the deputies deployed a malfunctioning taser, prompting another deputy to intervene by tasing Walker, causing him to fall to the ground. Despite repeated attempts to cooperate, Walker persistently got up, defying the authorities.
After several unsuccessful attempts, the deputies, along with Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel, finally managed to restrain Walker.
However, tragedy struck as Walker became unresponsive during the evaluation at the scene. He was immediately transported to Burke Health, where he was pronounced dead, as confirmed by the authorities.
In light of the incident, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Force Investigation Team was summoned to conduct an impartial investigation.
As the investigation remains ongoing, no further details will be disclosed at this time.
